Measuring Dinner With the ikeGPS Mobile GIS Device
Posted on Wed, May 16, 2012
I guess you could say that we take our remote measurement seriously at ikeGPS. We can't help ourselves! We want to measure everything, so why not measure the fish one of our team just caught in a beautiful lake in Western Australia? As you can see in the photo below, we wasted no time measuring the length of our dinner.

Measuring our dinner with ikeGPS™ was easy. We just focused the ike on the fish, selected Span Height mode from the ikeTools menu, marked the tip of the tail as the bottom and marked the fish snout as the top of the "span" following the Span Height on-screen instructions. ikeGPS™ does the rest, capturing a high resolution photo, calibrating it to a TrueSize photo, measuring the vertical distance between our markers and annotating the photo with the final results. How cool is that? Now we have a complete record of our fish size, suitable for framing or for proving to our buddies back home that our fishing trip was a success.
Now think about how ikeGPS™ could be used for more productive uses, like measuring and documenting heights and spans of utility poles, vegetation clearances, locations and sizes of buildings and signs, and much more. And when you're done working, you can take it out on the boat and have some fun too. Just be careful not to drop your ike in the lake!
